Book Review by Conor Quinn - www.authors.org.nz

"Waiheke Tales is a collection of short stories that capture unique pictures of the island's history, written in a style which exudes both a creative rhythm and a keen sense of poignancy. The author is a resident of the island and has used her experiences of living there, combined with legends, lore and gossip, to fashion a fictional history that will give the reader much local insight and many a humorous moment.

"Highlights include that incorrigible Rooster named Robert, in which the rooster plays the lead, the Copper Robbers as the boys 'strip-mined' Waiheke households for copper, Bottled Up as a young boy makes a find on the beach we all have hoped for at one time, and the clash of friends in Time and Tide.

"Waiheke Tales often portrays a simpler time, when 'old school' New Zealand values and mores were prevalent, but the stories also illustrate how contemporary society has left an indelible imprint on the Waiheke Island community.

"An excellent read for a wet and windy Sunday afternoon, Waiheke Tales will have you reminiscing about your own childhood and smiling every time you read a passage that reflects your own life."
